A Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) official holds up an aircraft part which officials claim is the 'black box' of the doomed Air India Express flight 812, discovered at the crash site in Mangalore on May 25, 2010. Investigators recovered May 25 the 'black box' digital flight recorder that holds crucial clues to the crash of an Air India Express plane in southern India that killed 158 people. The discovery followed an intense three-day search that began hours after the Boeing 737-800, flying from Dubai to the city of Mangalore, overshot the runway May 22, plunged into a gorge and burst into flames.

CONTENT The charred bodies of passengers are seen in their seats among the smouldering wreckage of an Air India Boeing 737-800 aircraft which crashed upon landing in Mangalore on May 22, 2010. An Air India Express passenger plane crashed in flames after overshooting the runway in the southern city of Mangalore, killing most of the 166 people on board. The state-run carrier said at least eight people had been rescued from the burning wreckage of the Boeing 737-800 which was carrying 160 passengers and six crew on a flight from Dubai.
